Aristocrat Interactive CEO Dylan Slaney on Why Player Experience Decides Loyalty | Exclusive Interview with iGaming News Today

Aristocrat Interactive CEO on Player Experience and Loyalty

Dylan Slaney is CEO of Aristocrat Interactive, the digital real-money gaming division of Aristocrat, and has worked across content creation, digital platforms and large-scale commercial operations.

In an exclusive interview with iGaming News Today, he was asked how much player experience really matters to long-term growth. His answer left no room in it.

“Player experience is everything”

Slaney did not hedge. “Player experience is everything,” he told iGaming News Today.

His reasoning is a retention argument rather than a product one. “In a competitive market, players gravitate toward products that feel intuitive, rewarding, and trustworthy. If you don’t deliver that consistently, they’ll move on quickly.”

Where he lands is the part worth quoting to any team building a loyalty programme: “Long-term growth comes from understanding player motivations, respecting their time, and giving them experiences that feel personal and meaningful. When you get that right, loyalty follows naturally.”

Note the order in that sentence. Loyalty is the output, not the campaign.

Where he expects AI to land

Slaney named three ways AI will reshape the industry, and the first is squarely a marketing function: personalisation at scale, tailoring content, promotions and experiences to individual players. The other two are operational efficiency, covering risk management, fraud detection and automated workflows, and enhanced responsible gaming through predictive models that identify at-risk players earlier.

He put a condition on all three. AI should “enhance player enjoyment and safety, not replace human judgment or creativity”.

The same theme runs through what he says winning companies do. Among the things he listed: use data intelligently and responsibly to personalise experiences, move with speed and accountability, and stay relentlessly focused on the player.

Innovation is not chasing every idea

On staying ahead, Slaney argued for being “both bold and disciplined”. Innovation is not about chasing every new idea, he said, but about having a clear strategy, investing in the right capabilities, and creating an environment where experimentation is encouraged and failure is treated as learning.

His summary of it is short enough to steal: “Transformation is not a project; it’s a mindset.”
